Sonoma Valley acreage and vineyards near Sonoma CA

The rich history of Sonoma CA along with the town’s wonderful array of fine restaurants and cafes, boutiques, galleries, and a storybook town square combine with good schools, community pride and temperate weather to make the real estate here a wonderful investment. The town’s just over 10,000 residents frequently gather for community events in its central plaza, a National Historic Landmark that is the site of its early 20th century town hall and is circled by historic buildings. Homes in and surrounding this delightful small city range from modest cottages and bungalows, to world-class vineyard estates. Formerly the county seat of its namesake Sonoma County, the town is the economic hub of the Sonoma Valley, home to approximately 40,000 people and synonymous with the birthplace of the California wine industry. The first wine grapes were planted in Sonoma CA sometime around 1823, the time of the founding of Mission San Francisco Solano. Soon thereafter, a Hungarian Count, Agoston Haraszthy, founded the first winery. Each September, the Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival, the oldest celebration of California’s wine heritage, takes place on the historic Plaza.
